Dry Skin Beneath Eyes Needs Nourishment

Dry skin beneath eyes is often caused by the use of cosmetics containing petroleum-based alcohols or other drying ingredients. Frequently, we see complaints from consumers that have tried eye gels containing paraffin. The waxy substance actually worsens the problem.
The skin’s thickness on the face varies. The area underneath the eyes is the thinnest of any portion of the face. Because of that, the area is very delicate and should be treated with great care. Most eye makeup remover is simply too harsh. If you find that the makeup you are using cannot be removed with a gentle cleanser, it’s a good idea to switch brands.
Once you are using gentler cleansers, you may see an improvement in dry skin around eyes. But, the importance of using a good moisturizer cannot be overstated. A nourishing eye gel might also be in order. One of the causes of excessive dryness, as well as an aged appearance, is overexposure to the sun. In one study, a group of people with sun damage volunteered to use a cream containing coenzyme Q10 for three months. At the end of the trial, their skin’s moisture content was nearly 30% better than before.
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant. Antioxidants prevent and repair free radical damage. Free radicals are always present in the skin’s layers, but during exposure to UV rays from the sun, their number and activity increases greatly. It takes one molecule of coenzyme Q10 to neutralize one free radical molecule. So, the amount of the antioxidant within the skin’s layers decreases dramatically during sun exposure.
The amount of COQ10 and other antioxidants normally present in the skin decreases with age, as well. So, if you don’t start using an antioxidant-rich cream for dry skin beneath eyes, in time, you will start to see wrinkles in the area and probably some sagging, too. Because, as the antioxidant levels decrease, free radical damage increases and free radical damage is one of the primary causes of wrinkles, sagging and other signs of aging.
In other studies, volunteers have used proprietary ingredients like HALOXYL and EYELISS. Both are European ingredients, used for reducing bags and dark circles. The volunteers felt that the ingredients improved softened and moisturized, while providing the other benefits.
Some of the better gels for dry skin around eyes contain HALOXYL, EYELISS and COQ10, as well as other nourishing ingredients. Remember that dryness indicates that your skin’s health is not as good as it could be. All that it takes to restore its health is nourishment.
Vitamin E has long been recommended to improve the skin’s health, even before scientists recognized and understood the benefit of antioxidants or the damage caused by free radicals. You have to be a little careful when buying a vitamin E cream. Most of what is on the market is synthetic, created in the laboratory using petrochemicals. You want natural vitamin E, if you want results.
So, that’s how antioxidants and other nourishing ingredients help get rid of dry skin beneath eyes. If you choose the right gels or creams, you should notice the benefits, immediately.
