Dry skin comes with its set of challenges but les find out how exactly one ends up getting dry skin. One of the major causes of dry skin is taking insufficient amounts of water. Lack of water causes dehydration which in turn translates to one having dry skin.
Treating this is however not hard, just take lots of water (recommended at least 8 glasses a day). There are also a number of diseases whose symptoms include having dry skin. Such diseases include diabetes and eczema and can be medically treated.
Another cause of dry skin that is spreading at an alarming rate is the use of substandard skin products on someone’s in the quest of getting flawless skin. Some cosmetic products like perfumes contain alcohol which is harmful to the skin. Ever wondered why people who have taken alcohol over a long period of time end up looking much older than their actual age? Well here is the answer. Alcohol absorbs lipids from the body which are essential for healthy skin. A person’s genes may also be a cause of dry skin. This is however not the person’s fault as this is a hereditary condition.
Changes in weather can also cause dry skin. People react differently to different weather conditions. The skin is bound to loose plenty of moisture when the weather is very cold or windy. Aging is yet another cause of dry skin. Take a simple test; compare a baby’s skin and that of an old person. The reason is simple, over time as a person grows older lipids and other body oils diminish from the body and all that is left is dry skin. Who can blame these people?
